Going to rehab helps you regain control over your life. The road to recovery begins at the rehab admissions process. The rehab admissions process makes it easier for both you and a center’s staff to determine what kind of treatment program may suit you best.
If you need help finding the right rehabilitation center, paying for rehab, or if you want to learn more about rehabilitation services, let Sierra Sage help. You can connect with the SSRS team by calling our office at 833.922.2884 or using our online form.
The Admissions for Rehab Process: What to Expect
When you first apply to join a rehabilitation program, you can expect each institution to engage in some variation of the following steps:
Pre-Screening and Initial Intake
While each program is different, their goals are the same一they want to help you build a solid foundation for lasting recovery. The first step in that process is pre-screening. Rehab centers need to understand your unique history, including your health status and what conditions (if any) you’ve had in the past.
That is where admissions pre-screening comes into play. All rehabilitation centers will screen potential clients to determine what substances they’ve consumed, what medications they may be on, and how those substances have impacted their health.
Most centers will also request a potential client’s medical history and information. Their requests may date back years as it is important for clinicians to understand what a client’s medical history was like before substance use. In turn, clinicians use this information to develop an individualized treatment plan for each client.
Mental Health Assessment
Just as rehabilitation centers can request your medical history, they also request that you complete a mental health assessment. That can include asking questions about your:
- Diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health conditions
- Suicidality
- Behavioral patterns both before and during your substance use
- History of violence
- Sexual offenses
Different rehabilitation centers specialize in handling different people and conditions. If you need help with your temper and substance use, you may want to visit a recovery center that can help you address your behavior. Be sure to read through a center’s client expectations before you begin the admissions for rehab.
For Individuals with Co-Occurring Disorders
Here at Sierra Sage Recovery Services, we understand the connection between substance use disorders and mental health concerns. Often, individuals turn to drugs or alcohol as a form of self-medication because they are experiencing a mental health issue like depression or anxiety. It’s not uncommon for the person to be unaware they are struggling with a mental health issue. However, this self-medicating puts a person at a far greater risk of developing a dependency. Similarly, addiction increases one’s susceptibility to mental health issues developing. When an individual is struggling with both a substance use disorder and mental health concern, they have a co-occurring disorder. This is addressed through dual diagnosis treatment. Our program can address several mental health issues, such as:
- Anxiety
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression
- PTSD
- Trauma
Our team can evaluate whether or not an individual needs to be enrolled in dual diagnosis during the admission process.
Concerned About Paying for Rehab? How and Where to Start
The team at Sierra Sage knows how difficult it can be to find a rehabilitation center, and the thought of paying for rehab may prevent some people from beginning the admissions process at all. That’s why we’re here to help.
At Sierra Sage Services, we accept HPN Medicaid (Health Plan of Nevada). We work closely with HPN to reduce rates for all our levels of care, lowering out-of-pocket expenses. Our admissions team can guide you through the benefits of your policy and what programs and services are covered.
